Aldi Is Selling 6 Irish-Inspired Cheeses for St. Patrick’s Day
From Irish cheddar to pesto Gouda, the St. Patrick's Day cheese at Aldi sounds incredible.
What better way to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland than with some Irish treats? Traveling can be expensive, but with help from some Aldi cheese, you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as if you were sitting in an Irish pub.
Psst! Did you know corned beef isn’t typical pub food over in the Emerald Isle? These Irish-style soups are the preferred go-to back home.
Meet the Aldi Cheese for 2021
The world’s most affordable store is offering six kinds of cheese this March:
- Aged Irish Cheddar
- Irish Cheddar with Irish Beer
- Irish Cheddar with Irish Whiskey
- Pesto Gouda
- Sage Derby
- Irish Porter
I don’t know why it takes a special holiday to appreciate these fantastic cheeses, which are so packed with flavor they deserve to be the star of a St. Patrick’s Day charcuterie board.
Aldi is bringing back not one but three types of Irish cheddar. What sets it apart from your typical cheddar? This not-so-subtle cheese is a superstar on any cheese board because it perfectly bridges the gap between hard and soft cheese.
Trio of Irish Cheeses
This trio of imported Irish cheeses includes Pesto Gouda, Sage Derby and Irish Porter. The Pesto Gouda is made with basil and garlic for a classic pesto flavor—pair with crostini or crackers. The Sage Derby cheese features a mottled green-and-white appearance while boasting a mild, sage flavor. Eat a piece solo own or paired with fruit.
Last but not least, the Irish Porter cheese is actually another Irish cheddar, but flavored with the malty, chocolaty goodness of porter.
Expect to find the cheeses in Aldi stores starting March 3, all retailing for a budget-friendly $3.99. But hurry—if last year was anything to go by, we doubt they’ll last long.
