The Stainless Steel Cleaner for Keeping Your Kitchen Fingerprint-Free
Love the look of stainless steel but hate the fingerprints? We found the best stainless steel cleaner to do the job and keep your appliances looking like new.
Anyone who has stainless steel in the kitchen knows that while it’s certainly gorgeous, it’s definitely prone to smudges. That wasn’t a problem with the avocado and harvest gold appliances of yore, but we’re all willing to put up with a few fingerprints in exchange for how sleek it looks. To keep your appliances looking their best, though, you need a good cleaner. And believe me, all those stainless steel polishes are not created equal!
That’s why Taste of Home staffers put the six most popular stainless steel cleaners to the test in their own homes. We had to find out which one really got rid of all those spots and smudges and which kept our fridge doors, ovens and microwaves looking their best.
The Best Stainless Steel Cleaner: Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish
When it came to polishing away fingerprints, smudges and stubborn water spots, Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner was our testers’ favorite. With a spray of this product, testers were able to clean away all these smears easily. When it was all done, this cleaner left no streaks, no residue and a mild, clean scent. It’s just the thing to keep on hand for a sparkling kitchen.
$3.96 for a 12-ounce spray can; available at retailers nationwide.
Our Other Favorite Stainless Steel Cleaners
Hope’s Perfect Stainless Steel Cleaner
Testers also thought that Hope’s Perfect Stainless Steel Cleaner did a good job of removing water spots and fingerprints from stainless steel appliances. It cleaned just as well as Weiman but the thicker formula required just a bit more elbow grease to completely remove any marks. This product was practically odor-free, as well, which testers perceived as a real bonus.
$4.96 for a 22-ounce bottle; available at retailers nationwide.
Goddard’s Stainless Steel Cleaner
When it came to everyday stains, testers also liked Goddard’s Stainless Steel Cleaner. It easily removed fingerprints and smudges, but it wasn’t as well suited for stubborn marks.
$4.99 for a 16-ounce bottle; available at hardware stores nationwide.
The Bottom Line
When it comes to stainless steel, a specialty cleaner versus just an all-purpose cleaning spray is the best way to keep the finish looking its best. Opt for one of our Best Loved Brands and your kitchen will look in tip-top shape.
