It’s Time to Buy Girl Scout Cookies, Because Troops in Atlanta Have a $3M Surplus
We never thought a day like this would come, but here we are. It's time to buy Girl Scout Cookies!
We know the beginning of every year means one very important thing—Girl Scout Cookies. Yes, a lot of stuff happens at the beginning of the year, but this is something everyone can agree on. I mean, c’mon! How can you possibly ignore such delicious treats from such an amazing group of girls?
But now there’s a crisis at hand, and yes, it means we need to buy Girl Scout Cookies online. It seems there are about $3 million worth of cookies still waiting to be ordered. Who knew we’d ever run into this kind of problem?
Why Are There Leftover Cookies?
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic seems to have hit every possible corner it could. Yes, even Girl Scout troops. Due to pandemic-related problems (like the lack of in-person sales), the Metro Atlanta Girl Scouts have around $3M worth of cookies still stowed away in a Georgia warehouse—that’s around 720,000 boxes.
The cookies left over include Caramel DeLites, Peanut Butter Patties and Trefoils. Is your state’s favorite Girl Scout Cookie on the list?
Can We Buy Girl Scout Cookies to Help?
Yes! The most amazing change to the cookie-buying process was the ability to buy Girl Scout Cookies online. Talk about an absolute game-changer. (I bought around 20 boxes right off the bat from my roommate’s niece!) Now, we need to reach out and help the Metro Atlanta Girl Scouts in their time of need. Yes, I’m calling upon you all to do your civic duty and BUY. MORE. COOKIES!
If you live in the metro Atlanta region, go support some Girl Scouts. You can shop for Girl Scout Cookies on the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta website—and enjoy a few extra boxes of cookies in the process.
I know Thin Mints aren’t on the leftovers list, but luckily you can still make your own Thin Mints, among other cookies.
