Ready your hands, because the chicken sandwich wars are heating up again. While we’ve been debating whether Popeye’s chicken sandwich can beat Chick-fil-A’s for a while now, it seems there may be a new contender in the mix.
The Chicken Big Mac has already made a splash on the other side of the pond. It hasn’t been released to the public in the States yet, but that will change soon!
What Is the Chicken Big Mac?
The original Big Mac is over 50 years old and continues to be one of the chain’s most popular menu items. However, with rising prices, ingredient shortages and customers that want more variety, McDonald’s has been experimenting with its classic burger.
The new Big Mac features two crispy tempura battered chicken patties along with the much-loved special sauce, lettuce, American cheese and pickles. With a side of classic McDonald’s fries, we’d say this sounds like the perfect meal.

The Chicken Big Mac Is Coming to the US
The Chicken Big Mac debuted in the UK earlier this year—and sold out 10 days after its release. Its smashing success means that McD’s is starting to look at other markets for the new item, and they’re currently eyeing the US for a trial.
The Chicken Big Mac is coming to certain McDonald’s outlets in Miami, Florida later in August 2022. If you’re lucky enough to live around there, you can be one of the first to try it.
If not, keep your fingers crossed that this sandwich makes its way to other states!
According to USA Today, McDonald’s will use this test to gather feedback from customers and restaurants to see if a nationwide release is on the table. Until then, you can always try to DIY this new offering—order two McChickens, replace your Big Mac patties with chicken patties, and you’ll have a pretty close approximation.
