These Stores Are Closed on Thanksgiving This Year

Companies are announcing closures for Thanksgiving early this year.

There are two types of people on Thanksgiving: Those who celebrate the holiday to its fullest and those who start Black Friday shopping on Thursday.

Last year, a host of retailers shut down on Turkey Day, as many major chains wanted to avoid large, convening crowds in order to abide by social distancing regulations and give employees some time with their families during the holiday.

Things are slowly opening up, but people are still being cautious. Keeping that in mind, Walmart is choosing to stay closed on Thanksgiving again this year in order to give employees some hard-earned time off with their families as a thank you for standing strong throughout 2020 and 2021. Of course, Walmart might still cash in on Black Friday, as the hours of operation haven’t been announced just yet. Target has also announced that they’ll remain closed for the holiday, as has Best Buy. If you want to get a really early start on your shopping, you can now forego the mask at some stores—if you’re fully vaccinated, of course.

Until then, you can get a head start on learning to make the perfect turkey for Thanksgiving.

No matter which group you’re in, tell us: Should stores make Thursday part of Black Friday? Let us know!
