How to Make Strawberry Vodka

And infusing vodka is easier than you think. The only secret is fresh, high-quality ingredients. For this recipe, you’ll need a smooth vodka brand that you know you love and the freshest berries you can find for the best-tasting outcome.

Use the guideline of equal parts strawberries to vodka. It will result in the best-tasting strawberry vodka. Experimenting with other ingredients like fresh herbs or spices is fine—but be wary—the flavor will intensify the longer the concoction sits, so certain ingredients can become overpowering.

Strawberry Vodka Recipe

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces ripe strawberries
  • 750mL of vodka
  • 1-2 tablespoons of superfine sugar
  • 2-3 sprigs fresh mint, optional

Step 1: Prepare your ingredients

Take the time to thoroughly wash and dry your ingredients. Remove the tops and uniformly slice each berry. Not only will this allow better diffusion of flavor, but it also makes a great presentation when jarred.

Fill a 6-7 cup container with the sliced strawberries. (Keep your eyes peeled for cool vintage Mason jars!) If you are using the mint, you can either put whole sprigs in or remove the mint leaves and scatter them throughout the layers of berries.

For added sweetness, mix your vodka with 1-2 tablespoons of superfine sugar.

Pour the vodka over the strawberries, filling the jar to the top. Tightly seal the jar and keep it away from sunlight and extreme temperatures. The back of a cool, dark pantry is a good spot.

Step 3: Wait

Let the infusion sit for 3-4 days. Give it a taste to see if the flavor is where you want it. The longer it sits the more flavorful it will be.

Once the flavor is right for you, strain the mixture. You can use a coffee filter, cheesecloth-lined sieve or muslin to strain back into the original vodka bottle or another storage container. Discard the strawberry and mint.
