Everything We Know About ‘The Santa Clauses’ Mini Series on Disney+

The Santa Clauses is set to drop on November 16, and the series feels familiar but different at the same time.

It’s hard to resist a holiday special toward the end of the year. It could be a romantic Hallmark Christmas movie or a family-friendly comedy. Either way, we’re on board—and we’ll be making recipes inspired by Christmas movies, too.

The most iconic Santa-inspired form of entertainment to enjoy each season has to be The Santa Clause, a trio of movies with Tim Allen playing Scott Calvin, aka Santa Claus. Now this character is back in a mini series on Disney+, The Santa Clauses!

What Is The Santa Clauses About?

First of all, the bad news: Scott Calvin wants to retire.

“For the good of Christmas, for the good of my family, I, Santa Claus, have decided to retire,” he says in a trailer for the series. Like many people getting older, Scott (who is about to turn 65), feels his Santa magic powers starting to fade, and wonders if it’s time to hang up his Santa suit.

But, of course, Christmas can’t exist without Santa, so he needs to find a replacement. Apparently, Peyton Manning—who is also in this streaming reincarnation—is on tap to be the new Santa, and we can’t wait to see how that works out.

The good news is, plenty of our favorites from the movie will be in this limited-time series, from David Krumholtz as Bernard the elf to Elizabeth Mitchell as Carol/Mrs. Claus. You’ll also get to see Kal Penn, Elizabeth Allen-Dick, Devin Bright, Austin Kane, Matilda Lawler and Rupali Redd.

When Can I Watch the Series?

The Santa Clauses will premiere on November 16 on Disney+, and we’re already preparing our favorite Christmas snacks. If you prefer family-friendly entertainment of the animated kind, it’s a good time to catch up on Christmas cartoons!
