This Hack Takes Holiday Hot Chocolate With Cool Whip to the Next Level

Dress up your holiday hot chocolate with these Cool Whip cutouts.

The warm temp and rich flavor of hot chocolate make it a seasonal staple for the colder months approaching. And though plain cocoa has its place, we understand the craving for specialty hot chocolate beverages—white chocolate, peppermint, caramel and more. And don’t forget the toppings! Different add-ins are a must for a DIY hot chocolate bar, the classic combo being marshmallows and whipped cream.

Sweet syrups and sprinkles aside, we’ve discovered a way to elevate holiday drink toppings right at home, with a little help from TikTok, of course. Here’s how you can sweeten up your hot chocolate with Cool Whip toppers.

How to Make Frozen Cool Whip Toppers

Reddi-Wip fans, all we ask is that you keep an open mind with this one. We learned this easy and adorable hack for dressing up hot cocoa with Cool Whip toppings from TikTok user @howdoesshe.

All you need to get started is a tub of Cool Whip and a baking sheet. To keep things from getting unnecessarily messy, we recommend lining your baking sheet with plastic wrap or parchment paper. Use a baking spatula to scoop it onto the lined baking sheet and spread it out in a layer about half-inch thick, as evenly as you can. Then make some room in your freezer and set the sheet in there to chill for two or more hours.

While the Cool Whip is chilling, you’ll have time to heat up your kettle and line up your assembly line of toppings. If you have a handful of holiday-themed cookie cutters, like snowflakes, snowmen or Christmas trees, now is the time to dig them out of your pantry. When the layer of Cool Whip is chilled solid, go ahead and pull the baking tray from your freezer. Cut out some shapes with the cookie cutters and top off your steaming cup of cocoa. They’ll warm up, melt, and leave you with a frothy layer of whipped topping.
