????I love homemade apple pie, but I needed a simple sweet treat for my boys that we could take on the go. With real dried apple bits, white chocolate, nuts and fall spices, this crunchy blend is perfect for our busy family. —Jennifer Fisher, Austin, TX

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Cinnamon Chex
  • 3 cups Rice Chex
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups coarsely chopped dried apples
  • 1 cup white baking chips
  • 1 teaspoon shortening

Directions

  1. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine cereals and walnuts. In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 2 minutes, stirring after each minute. Pour over cereal mixture and toss to coat.
  2. Cook, uncovered, on high for 4 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes. Spread onto waxed paper to cool. Add apples. In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt baking chips and shortening; stir until smooth. Pour over mixture. Cool. Break into pieces; store in an airtight container.
