Aunt Frances’ Lemonade

My sister and I spent a week each summer with our Aunt Frances, who always had this thirst-quenching lemonade in a stoneware crock in the refrigerator. It makes a refreshing drink after a hot day of running around. —Debbie Reinhart, New Cumberland, Pennsylvania

Ingredients

  • 5 lemons
  • 5 limes
  • 5 oranges
  • 3 quarts water
  • 1-1/2 to 2 cups sugar

Directions

  • Squeeze the juice from 4 each of the lemons, limes and oranges; pour into a gallon container.
  • Thinly slice the remaining fruit and set aside for garnish. Add water and sugar to the juices; mix well. Store in the refrigerator. Serve over ice with fruit slices.

We love to make this lemonade alllll summer long! My hubby is always asking me to make more! **For some reason I see that sugar isn't on the ingredients list anymore, but it is still mentioned in the directions. FYI the amount of sugar is 1.5 cups or more or less to taste

This is simply the best lemonade ever! Delicious and not cloying like straightup lemonade. Perfect blend of sweet and sour. I make it every summer--by the gallon.

Cool and sweet! This is a good lemonade. You can really taste all three kinds of fruit in it. It was also good in an adult cocktail!

Such an all-American summer recipe - delicious and refreshing! I didn't have oranges on hand, so I used Meyer lemons instead. The recipe still turned out great!

I make mine with simple syrup by mixing the water and sugar in a pan, bring to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved. Then cool before mixing with juices. It makes for a smother drink. Try it.
