Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus

My husband and I grill dinner almost every night, and I love grilling veggies for a side dish. I serve this grilled bacon wrapped asparagus recipe with meat and sliced fresh tomatoes for a wonderful meal. —Trisha Kitts, Dickinson, Texas

  • 10 fresh asparagus spears, trimmed
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 5 bacon strips, halved lengthwise


  • Place asparagus on a sheet of waxed paper; coat with cooking spray. Sprinkle with pepper; turn to coat. Wrap a bacon piece around each spear; secure ends with toothpicks.
  • Grill, uncovered, over medium heat until bacon is crisp, 4-6 minutes on each side. Discard toothpicks.

  • I always fry 2 lbs. or more of bacon at a time, drain the slices well, then freeze them. The slices don’t stick together, so it’s easy to remove a few from the bag for a sandwich or to crumble for a recipe.

      Love grilled asparagus. I prefer mine grilled in bunch to single spears.

      Delicious and simple. I squeeze a bit of fresh lemon juice on them when they come off the grill.

      Perfect little hand held treats. I used the Pencil Thin Asparagus. I also cut the slices of bacon length wise in half. forming one thin. long skinny strip. I also sautéed the asparagus for a few minutes in garlic infused olive oil. Cooled for a few minutes then wrapped the bacon around the asparagus. They browned up perfectly, leaving the asparagus crisp tender. I also sprinkled the finished spears with some parm cheese. I served as an appetizer. Its a yum for sure. VFE.
