My boyfriend doesn’t like cream of mushroom soup, so I substituted cream of chicken. It tasted great!! I will definitely make it again and think about par cooking the broccoli first as the stems were still a bit hard. Lisa S
I made this casserole for dinner tonight and it was delicious. The only thing I did differently was I added one bag of broccoli instead of two because my pot is not that big. I can't wait to make this again.
My sister recently made this and it was so delicious. She adjusted the recipe by covering the casserole (so the broccoli would be tender) for the recommended bake time and then uncovered, added the (set aside) cheese and fried onions, then baked uncovered from there as recommended. It was perfect!
If I were to make this again I would cook the broccoli first, add all the ingredients and then bake in the oven. I don't care for hard broccoli and while the sauce is very good it does not mix well with cold broccoli
Great recipe. I'm not a big fan of broccoli, but this works for me! And, when you write a review on TOH there's actually a little note that says to please tell what you thought of the recipe "and how you adjusted it." I personally love reading how people alter the recipes, because some of their suggestions actually work better for me.
This recipe is so good. No leftovers with this casserole. Just a quick thank you to Nance for your comment, could not agree more, nicely said!
This looks like a good recipe, but I agree with a couple of the comments that I would only use the French onions on the top. As far as the comment from Nance, I actually appreciate comments telling of a few variations people might do with the recipe. What makes me really sad, is how people have to be rude and get upset about the least little things nowadays.?? Lets be kind.

This is excellent JUST AS WRITTEN. when ever I make this the dish is wiped clean so whoever needs to change it for their own taste leave your comments to yourself I don't understand why anyone feels the need to rewrite someone elses recipe?? no one cares that you omit sour cream or that you use evaporated milk..This is a great recipe AS WRITTEN if you want to change it write your own recipe and let everyone else make it the way you do if they want!! Sorry but had to get this off my chest :D
