1 cup fresh or frozen pitted tart cherries, thawed
Directions
For dressing, whisk together first 4 ingredients. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice. Add celery, cranberries and almonds; toss with dressing. Gently stir in cherries.
Refrigerate, covered, 1 hour before serving.
Editor's Note
To toast nuts, bake in a shallow pan in a 350° oven for 5-10 minutes or cook in a skillet over low heat until lightly browned, stirring occasionally.

I made this last week and it was very good, but I prefer the classic version with walnuts, apples, grapes, celery, and a lemon-mayo dressing, which I'd recreated at home years ago after one of my stays at the Waldorf Hotel. The Cherry Waldorf Salad is a nice change of pace, however.

I made this, and it was very easy to create, but the dressing wasn't good. It had a "tang" to it, and I just couldn't eat it. I like the ingredients, but once the dressing went on, it wasn't good. Sorry!

Delicious. If you're on a budget I recommend using extra cranberries.

I made this for Christmas dinner. Used frozen cherries from our cherry tree. Anticipated it to be too sour, but it wasn't. Everyone had seconds. I omitted the celery and nuts.

The price of cherries made me opt for cherry-flavored Craisins and they were excellent. (And I am not much of a raisin fan!) Walnuts and pecans both work well with this recipe.

I served this salad on Christmas with champagne baked ham (also from this site), and it was perfect. I couldn't find the cherries, so we used extra cranberries. The dressing was really good, and I liked the toasted almonds with it. I used red delicious and granny smith apples.
