Chewy Choco-Caramel Squares

  • 1 package butter recipe golden cake mix (regular size)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white baking chips
  • 1/2 cup toffee bits
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 32 caramels
  • 1/2 cup butter, cubed


  1. Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs and oil; beat on low speed 30 seconds. Beat on medium 2 minutes. Fold in chocolate chips, baking chips and toffee bits.
  2. Press half of mixture into a greased 13x9-in. baking pan. Bake 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, combine milk, caramels and butter. Cook and stir over medium heat until smooth.
  3. Pour caramel mixture over crust. Crumble remaining cake mixture over top. Bake 20-25 minutes longer or until edges begin to brown and topping is set. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
