Chicken Pizza

My fun twist on typical pizza is an excellent way to use up leftover pesto. And since it’s loaded with protein-rich chicken and black beans, it’s hearty enough to satisfy everyone! —Taste of Home Test Kitchen, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Chicken Pizza Tips

What goes well with chicken on pizza?

There are so many toppings and sauces that go well with chicken on pizza! If you’re looking for extra veggies, try topping this recipe with mushrooms and onions. For additional color, add some fresh spinach or basil leaves during the last two minutes of cooking. And for a tangy kick, add a quick drizzle of balsamic glaze. Do you cook chicken before putting it on pizza?

To ensure the chicken is cooked all the way through, you’ll definitely want to cook chicken before putting in on pizza.

Do you put cheese on pizza first or last?

After covering your crust with sauce, put cheese on pizza first, followed by any additional toppings. This allows the cheese to bubble up under the toppings, and gives toppings direct heat so they'll cook up more crisp, and not soggy. We enjoyed this, but thought it could use some more flavor. Maybe some more garlic? Some onion would help too. It was a nice change of pace though! I may try it again sometime with some alterations.
