Creamy Turkey Gravy

With my easy recipe, even someone who has never made homemade gravy before can be assured of success. —Phyllis Schmalz, Kansas City, Kansas.

    2-1/3 cups


  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons turkey drippings
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup whole milk


  • In a small saucepan, mix cornstarch, drippings, salt and pepper until smooth. Gradually whisk in broth and milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly; cook and stir 2 minutes or until thickened.

2 tablespoons: 38 calories, 3g fat (1g saturated fat), 4mg cholesterol, 234mg sodium, 2g carbohydrate (0 sugars, 0 fiber), 1g protein.

    Maybe I did something wrong, but I didn't get a lot of flavor with this. I might try again using flour instead of cornstarch and letting the roux get a little dark first.

    YES! A turkey gravy recipe made with MILK! YES! I don't know how many turkey gravies I've had that were made with water. I always use milk as that's what you use for wonderful chicken gravy. :)This is pretty much how I make turkey gravy, except I prefer flour over cornstarch, and I also like to let my gravy sit and simmer for about ten minutes, stirring often. Just add a bit more stock if it starts getting too thick.

    It was good! I substituted potato starch, added 2 teaspoons too potent poultry seasoning which made green gravy - so diluted with more chicken broth in separate pot. Used Himalayan salt & raw milk. Then added chunked turkey & heated. Oops - forgot the cranberry sauce again!

    My husband loves to prepare gravy. Together we tried this. I used half and half instead of milk. Delicious.

    Turkey gravy is incredibly easy to make and this recipe gives options we have not tried. I love creamy turkey gravy and so does my family so we will be trying this recipe.
