Georgia Peach Ice Cream
Total TimePrep: 45 min. + chilling Process: 20 min./batch + freezing
I guess this recipe is only as good as the peaches you use. Though Michigan has its own delicious peaches, I ordered 25lbs of Georgia peaches. Sadly, I was not impressed. I made the recipe as directed, but #1 it did not freeze in the proven ice cream maker after 4 hours of churning. I froze a couple 1 cup containers. This froze ok, a you would imagine. However, the flavor is overwhelmingly that of condensed milk. While that is not all bad, it is not peachy enough. The color is gorgeous, but that's about as peachy as it gets. I blame the peaches I used, not the recipe. I have real cups of the ice cream base
I halved this recipe because it wouldn't have fit in my Cuisinart ice cream maker. I used really nice ripe peaches but I didn't taste the peach flavor. Maybe because the ice cream was a tad too sweet since it uses sweetened condensed milk. The texture of the ice cream is very like store bought, creamy and not heavy. Next time I will drop the sugar down by 1/3. I added 3 tablespoons of fresh lime juice to the ice cream while it was churning and it cut some of the sweetness.
I prepared this ice cream for my son’s graduation party. Everyone thought it was delicious! I wasn’t sure how to measure 1 3/4 lbs peaches, so I put around 3 cups of mashed peaches. Yum!
I’m from Covington, Ga and my grandmother has made fresh peach ice cream for my entire life and it has always been my favorite. This recipe is amazing! I puréed my peaches and sugar in the food processor like My grandmother always does and added a little more sugar than the recipe calls for, and it is fabulous. My husband and son raved about. This morning it scooped out of the container like store bought ice cream does. No iciness, not rock hard, just perfection. Don’t tell my grandmother but this recipe is better than hers!
THE BEST peach ice cream I have ever had!! It's easy and so delicious. After being in the freezer for a full day it scoops like store bought ice cream but much tastier. Make this recipe asap!! Definitely a keeper. Thanks for sharing! BTW.... I think it's best if you puree the peaches before adding. That's just my opinion.
Delicious! Next time I will mash the peaches up into smaller pieces, closer to a puree. The small/medium sized pieces tend to be too icy for my liking when the ice cream is hard. Thank you for the recipe!
sounds very do-able. Gonna try it this weekend.

I am from Ga and this is just as good as the peach icecream they serve at Lanes Peach Packing Plant in GA.
