Gingerbread Belgian Waffles

I like to combine the sweet and spicy taste of gingerbread with the cool and dreamy taste of cream cheese frosting. It's a heavenly way to start the day! —Jannine Fisk, Malden, Massachusetts

I made these waffles for a Christmas morning brunch. They were a HUGE hit with family and friends. My son in law, who does not like gingerbread, raved about them. I've been cooking for family gatherings for over 40 years, and occasionally look for new recipes to change things up a bit, even though many tried and true recipes are always appreciated. This recipe is a winner and will definitely be in rotation at my house in the future!

Perfect Christmas morning breakfast! Great with the icing as listed or with real maple syrup. Froze and reheated very well.
