Irish Coffee
This Irish coffee lives up to its reputation as a relaxing after-dinner drink. Creme de menthe adds a colorful touch to the cream. —Taste of Home Test Kitchen, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

I omitted the creme de menthe, but otherwise followed the recipe as written. I poured the whipped cream over the back of a spoon to float it on the coffee. Drinking it, I felt like I was at the Buena Vista looking over San Francisco Bay. Perfect!
This may have the basic ingrediants, but this is not how it's made in Ireland. The process of making it is just as important as the end result. Making it properly ensures the end result, And you NEVER put cream de mint on it.
I agree with the other comments. Leave off the creme de menthe. Otherwise it is excellent.????
LOVE this recipe. I also added a drop of green food coloring to the creme de menth/whipping cream to give it more of a St. Patrick's Day festive look. My company loved it and even asked for the recipe. I was kind of embarassed to tell them how simple it was!

While I enjoy Irish Coffee, I did not like the addition of the creme de menthe either! If you want green whip cream on top of the drink, just color it green. The minty flavor with the irish coffee was like that orange juice and toothpaste thing!!
I am a true believer in Irish Coffee. I lived in Alaska for over 30 years and always loved my Irish coffee in the winter time. My husband and I would visit a local Irish bar and they made them like this recipe but don"t add the creme de menthe it's not in the original recipe.

I love Irish Coffee and enjoy it as an after dinner drink. I do not like the creme de menthe as it spoils the taste of the true Irish coffee. I think some bartender somewhere thought it would be cute to add something green, big mistake!....at least with me. Enjoy!
