Mini Apple Crisp

With my family's hectic schedule, I cook for one quite frequently. My Mini Apple Crisp is so simple to make. I works equally well as a nice single-serving dessert for me or as an afternoon snack when our oldest son gets home from school."

Ingredients

  • 1 medium apple, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cold butter
  • 2 tablespoons quick-cooking oats
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Cream, optional

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Place apple slices in a small greased baking dish. In a small bowl, combine flour, brown sugar and cinnamon; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in oats; sprinkle over apple slices. Bake until apple slices are tender, 35-40 minutes. Serve warm with cream, if desired.

    I love this recipe. I added about a 1/4 tsp cinnamon, and it tasted really good. Would definitely recommended for a beginner, overall really good recipe. Does not need any extra sugar, apples are nice and soft (I used granny smith).

    Great recipe for single serving. After making it once, I adjusted for my taste-used 2 cut up apples with a little cinnamon and nutmeg sprinkled in. For the topping- a little less brown sugar but more oatmeal

    Great recipe for one and easy to multiple ingredients for more servings. Also perfect for an after school snack, as suggested. I have premade them, stored in the fridge so that they are ready to bake for my teens to cook when they get home. I also have added raisins. You can easily tweak this recipe to suit your personal tastes.

    I don't see how baking for 35 40 minutes is considered an after-school snack...

    This is a great recipe. Who doesn't love their own dessert? Although it only makes 1 serving I easily adapted it to make 4 servings for my family by quadrupling the ingredients. After slicing the apples I cut them in half to easily fit my dishes. The topping gets nice and crispy and delicious. Next time I might add some chopped pecans but this recipe really is perfect just the way it is. I used Granny Smith apples and didn't feel they needed any sugar.

    Very easy! My mother and I liked to split one of these. Recommend increasing the quantity and distribution of brown sugar, but that's just our preference.

    I tasted the crumble before I put it on and realized that it hadn't called for salt. Overall, a nice base recipe to modify for what you need (I used pumpkin pie spice with the cinnamon as well as the salt).

    I made this and it was delicious. I tripled the recipe. It looks similar to many other recipes available on taste of home. It's straight forward and tastes like apple crisp should. I will make it again!

    I chose this recipe because I was looking for the topping. I spread it over a variety of frozen fruit (strawberries, peaches, pinapple, and mango) as a midnight snack - something warm and light, not TOO unhealthy, yet still hit the cravings. This worked very well!
