Preheat oven to 325°. Line 48 mini-muffin cups with paper liners. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in orange zest, orange juice and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition.
Fill prepared cups two-thirds full. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 11-13 minutes. Cool in pans 5 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool completely.
For buttercream, in a large bowl, beat butter and salt until creamy. Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar, milk and vanilla until smooth.
Using a paring knife, cut a 1-in.-wide cone-shaped piece from top of each cupcake; discard removed portion. Fill cavity with marmalade. Pipe or spread buttercream over tops.

Pretty darn good. My frosting did come out a little soft though so I just put it in the fridge and it was perfect.

Not a review - just a question. Can these be made as regular sized cupcakes rather than mini?

This is amazing!!! I left out the marmalade and the icing and turned them into muffins but they are so good! It seems like such a shame to eat them.

Pretty good. I used store bought frosting. I didn't think it was really anything special. I didn't feel like buying a big jar of orange marmalade thought, so I left that out. I'll have to try including that next time though.

The butter cream is too sweet for me but the orange marmalade balanced it out nicely . My husband took them to the office and everyone LOVED them.

I'm not a big fan of cakes, but when the recipe stated "it reminded me of orange sherbet icecream treats" I had to try it. And yum is all I can say; moist, tasty and it's a keeper.
