Pancake Syrup

My husband has fond memories of this pancake syrup recipe. Every Sunday morning, his dad would get up early to make the family pancakes and homemade syrup.   • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon maple flavoring


  • In a small saucepan, combine the sugars and water. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; stir in maple flavoring. Refrigerate leftovers.

    We made this years ago for our camping trips, kids loved it. Then kids moved on and there was no need, however grandkids now enjoy it just as much.

    Great simple recipe! I cut the ingredients in half because I didn't need a lot, I didn't have maple flavoring, so I added a sprinkle of cinnamon, it turned out amazing!

    We used to make syrup like this when I was a kid, except we rarely had brown sugar, so we used just white sugar. Going to try using less water like krysfielder, becauseI'm looking for a thicker syrup. Exactly the idea I had in mind anyway, just needed a second opinion. :-)
