These are great as a side dish and jazzed up a little for a main dish. Instead of using bread crumbs, I've used the dried onions and I grind them into crumbs and sprinkle on top. Yum! Its takes it to a whole new flavor! Also, sometimes I use cream cheese and substitute ricotta cheese for the sour cream. Or sometimes we use a little of both sour cream and ricotta. It helps to balance out the sour/ tartness you get from using all sour cream. If we have this as a main dish, we have different fixings like cut up ham, crumbled bacon, etc. Its really a great tasting dish.
Have made these for years and swear by using Hungry Jack.
This has been a go-to recipe for family gatherings for many years. I almost always throw it together a day ahead, and I feel this gives it extra flavor.
I've made these many times, I'm wondering if these can be made a day ahead?
I made this recipe for a large family gathering and it was a hit. Will definitely make this again. It's a winner!!
when do you add the cream cheese? It' not mentioned in the instructions
Good stuff, my hubby loved them...it's a keeper
Awesome! I did use garlic instant potatoes and added a little more garlic. Fresh chives are best in this one!
Good, but a little to much of a sour cream taste for us.
yet another tasty looking yummy heartwarming side. oh yah, I'll be making this for a family gathering soon. I'll be bumping up the spices however as this family likes biiiig flavors, thanks for sharing.
