Shoofly Chocolate Pie

If you like traditional shoofly pie, the chocolate version is even better! I sometimes serve it with vanilla ice cream, but it is just as good on its own. —Gwen Brounce Widdowson, Fleetwood, Pennsylvania

A few years back I had been given a Shoofly Pie recipe from an Amish woman, but I lost it. So when I saw this recipe, I was happy to try it. While family and I liked it, it seems to be missing flavor. After reviewing some other Shoofly Pie recipes, I noticed they all had cinnamon and ginger in it, so next time these spices are definitely going in.

I did not care for the combination of chocolate and molasses in this pie. It tasted medicinal to me.
