Smoked Almond Cheese Ball

??This cheese ball makes its way to our table every year, and I often give one or more as gifts. The recipe is easily doubled or tripled. —Cleo Gonske, Redding, CA


  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons sweet white wine
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 to 2 drops hot pepper sauce
  • 2 cups (8 ounces) finely shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2/3 cup chopped smoked almonds
  • Assorted crackers


  1. In a large bowl, beat the first 5 ingredients until smooth. Stir in cheese. Shape into a ball; roll in almonds. Wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Serve with crackers.
