Southwestern Pineapple Pork Chops

  • 4 boneless pork loin chops (5 ounces each)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic pepper blend
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 can (8 ounces) unsweetened crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 1 cup medium salsa
  • Minced fresh cilantro


  • Sprinkle pork chops with pepper blend. In a large skillet, brown chops in oil. Remove and keep warm.
  • In the same skillet, combine pineapple and salsa. Bring to a boil. Return chops to the pan. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until tender, 15-20 minutes. Sprinkle with cilantro.

    I liked how easy this was to make, but there wasn't a lot of flavor. This probably depends on the type of salsa you use. I simmered them for 15 mins, and they were a bit overcooked. If I were to make them again, I would use a more flavorful salsa, and keep a closer eye on the cooking time to avoid overcooking.

    I would either use sweetened pineapple or add a little brown sugar if I made these again. The unsweetened pineapple and tomato salsa needed a little added sweetness for my personal taste. Other than that it was a good recipe, very easy and inexpensive to make.

    This was amazing and so easy I think I could make it in my sleep. I was looking for something to do with an open jar of salsa I needed to use up and found this. I didn't have a "garlic pepper blend" so I seasoned the chops with pepper and garlic. (lol). These were the juiciest pork chops I think I've ever had. No chewing cotton balls! My chops were a little less than an inch thick and I simmered them exactly 15 minutes. While chops were simmering, I roasted asparagus in the oven and the whole dinner was perfect. Thank you!!

    Just made this meal, turned out great. I added chopped green and red peppers to the salsa with a little balsamic vinegar, really brings out flavor of salsa and pineapple. Can't wait to serve to my family. I added Mixed Veg Potato Salad and Brown Rice/Gungu Peas as sides. Yum Nice Big mean, all turned out excellent.....

    I am allergic to pineapple, can I use mango instead? Otherwise this sounds wonderful!

    I was surprised at how well we liked this. My picky 8 year old loved it! I served this with fried potatoes, refried beans and flour tortillas that we had leftover from taco night.

    So simple and very tasty. I served it with jasmine rice. I also used pineapple tidbits instead of the crushed. I don't think I would have liked that texture.
