Here's a traditional main dish that's tested and true. It's been a favorite with my family for many years. —Vera Burke, West Pittston, Pennsylvania

Wonderful roast recipe, my family enjoyed it. It isn’t fancy nor does it have anything other than old-fashioned spices & ingredients that older generations used. It doesn’t use trendy new spices etc. it’s simply a truly old-fashion roast, so if your looking for a trendy recipe this isn’t it but if you want home cooking like granny makes this is it & it’s delicious. Also “Charlie” evidently you were not taught that vulgarity is an over simplification of a simple mind.
Very good, old fashioned recipe! I like to add a bay leaf, a bit of marjoram, and sometimes a bit of Worchestershire sauce for a change. @Charlie-there is no need to be such an absolute vulgarian! If you dislike the recipe you could state so in a polite manner. Your trashy language is revolting! Anyway, thank you to Vera Burke for this recipe; my family enjoys it.
Can this be made in a slo cooker?
Taste like boiled dung.

My family loves this & its very easy to make for a sunday dinner. I follow the recipe as is and it turns out perfect every time.
yummy I've made this recipe alot it is one of my favorites.
My family loved it. It took the veges a lot longer to cook than the recipe call for. We ate an hour or more later than planned. I would allow more time when making this.
I DID THIS RECIPE AND I ADDED AND CHANGED A COUPLE OF INGREDIENTS. I DIDNT USE POTATOES OR SALT. I USED CHICKEN BOUILLON AND DID RICE FOR MY SIDE DISH. IT WAS REALLY GOOD. MY CO-WORKERS LOVED IT AND I PASSED THE RECIPE ON.
